“@simenstenberg Explores Evolution, Fiction and Mystery
/pɪˈpɛtə/ by Simen Utsigt Stenberg draws on references ranging from animation history and early scientific imaging to literature and popular culture, using the rabbit as a recurring figure suspended between reality, fiction and transformation. From the evolution of Bugs Bunny to the chronophotographic experiments of Étienne-Jules Marey, and from anatomical studies to Leonora Carrington’s surreal narratives, the rabbit emerges as a symbol through which to question perception, representation and the boundaries between the human and non-human.
Rather than following a linear narrative, /pɪˈpɛtə/ unfolds through a constellation of images, stories and historical references that reflect on evolution, visibility and the construction of knowledge. Moving between science, mythology and imagination, the project investigates how images shape our understanding of the world while preserving spaces for ambiguity, wonder and speculation.
At its core, the work reflects on the tension between observation and mystery, suggesting that not everything can, or should, be fully understood.”
